Dear fellow Laborers,
We have just entered the year 2009 and ahead of us are great undertakings. The world has never gone through what it is going through today and so much may be required from the church. It is an opportune time as endtime signs are seemingly surfacing. Questions like, Is this the economic downturn that the bible seems to imply? Is the war in Gaza and the severe protests against Israel by the world the last cycle for the gentile conversion? Will these events and others that will still unfold usher now to the conversion of the Jews? Spiritual activities are high in last few weeks.....churches in New York have experienced an increase of attendance. Fortune tellers and tarot card readers have also reported increase in customers.
What is happening to the world and the intense ministry requirements on our positions of leadership specially in a rapidly changing world are enough reasons for us to dedicate a day or days(s) of prayer and fasting. We have to hear from God the interpretation of the times and we have to reflect on our leadership. It seems like in our expectation of growing more in the image of our Lord due to length of time as a Christian or being long in leadership.....such expectations are not achieved. Being in leadership, if not seen in the right perspective, can have a reversing effect on our spiritual growth. This must not be a year of presuppositions but a year to guard our hearts and our destiny. Spiritual growth remains a personal pursuit and cannot be brought about by positions or length of service in leadership.
I know your regions have regular schedules of prayer and fasting. Some have even gone ahead or are in the midst of their annual prayer and fasting. But for us who will still be going through their schedules...if you can bring in your ministers and workers to a time of prayer and fasting.
God bless you is our prayer and have a very successful year!
