"Win Asia For Christ"
By Pastor Francisco (Kiko) Sanchez
Reporting In Behalf of WIN-Asia & Oceania Office
Word International Ministries-Hong Kong (WIN-HK) generously hosted this year’s 4-Day Summit through the leadership of Pastor Jhun & Christie Naval, who have also celebrated their 5th anniversary as a church on May 3.
Delegates from outside Hong Kong came as early as April 26 to enjoy the excitements of Disneyland and other attractions. There were more than 25 delegates who came from Singapore, Indonesia, Myanmar, South Korea and the Philippines.
The Summit officially started on the eve of April 30 where WIN-Asia pastors convened at the WIN-HK Centre to review the regional objectives that were written down during the first summit in Jakarta back in October of 2007.
The focus during last year’s Summit in Seoul Korea was on how to connect people to God through W.O.R.D. (Worship, Outreach, Relationship, Discipleship). There were also some teachings on Evangelism, Young Adults & Marriage. This year’s focus on the other hand, is for the church to produce more disciples and for us believers to be more committed in our walk as followers of Christ. The whole day (May 01) Church Conference started off with the introductory remarks of Pastor Butch Yu on “His Commission, Our Commitment.” Topics on Commitment to Spiritual growth, to Koinonia (small groups), to Spiritual gifts, to Develop Good Stewardship and to Mission & Outreach were taught one after the other by Pastors Ramon Morante, Jojo Grey, Martin Cruzado, Mon Alingalan and Philip Thang.
The next day (May 02), at least 20 delegates went on a day tour in the Shenzhen City of China. We visited a Jade display center and had ceremonial Chinese tea. Next, we had authentic Cantonese lunch near the Wonders of China theme park then passed by a Silk display center and finally to the famous Windows of the World theme park where miniatures and replicas of famous infrastructures in Europe, Asia, Africa & North America were on display.
The WIN-HK 5th Church Anniversary was a great success. Brother William & Sister Del Koh of the Church of Singapore-Balistier, who happened to be in Hong Kong, also came and joined the celebration. Dr. Tess Kong Sanchez shared a short but moving life-testimony while Pastor Edwin Hernandez encouraged the brethren to commit to become an Ambassador for Christ and of course followed by the endless pictorials. The famous “WIN-Asia Pastors’ Walk” was made a number of times in Kung-fu attire. Ah, what an experience indeed.
It was exciting and unforgettable for all who have been part of this recently concluded summit. For Tess Palma and her two boys, who came all the way from Cagayan De Oro (CDO) City in Northern Mindanao, it was worth the trip. She was so blessed to have attended the said Summit that she is already looking forward to the 4th WIN-Asia Summit. She said that this is an eye opener for her and had wished that she was able to attend last year’s Summit in Seoul, Korea. She expressed her desire to the Pastors attending the Summit to visit CDO and also minister to the church.
Another individual who had an unforgettable experience was Marc Makil, one of the Young Adults of WIN-SQ. He went to the Summit as part of Multi-Media team that will take videos and photos, yet he came back not only with memorable and uplifting experience but also with a renewed commitment to serve God.
You too could be a part of this wonderful experience. Come and join us in the next WIN-Asia Summit.
